Frequently Asked Questions

Booking, pricing, what's included, weather, kids, licenses and more — the things our crew gets asked most often.

  • How do I book a trip on the Super Hawk?

Reservations are taken by phone with a credit card. Call (516) 607-3004 — we'll confirm your sailing (AM or PM), the number of anglers, and any special needs. Walk-ons are welcome on open-boat days when space allows.

  • What time do the half-day trips sail?

Our AM trip sails 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM and our PM trip sails 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, daily and year-round (schedule may vary off-season). Please arrive at least 30 minutes before departure to park, check in, and board.

  • How much does it cost?

Weekdays: Adults $65, Seniors $62, Children 15 and under $40. Weekends: Adults $67, Seniors $64, Children 15 and under $40. Bait, tackle, rod and reel are all included — no extra rental fees.

  • Do I need to bring my own rod, reel, or bait?

No. Everything is included — rods, reels, terminal tackle and fresh bait. You're welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer. Pack sunscreen, a hat, layers, snacks and drinks (a small galley is on board).

  • Do I need a New York State fishing license?

No. Recreational saltwater anglers fishing on a licensed party or charter boat in New York are covered under the vessel's permit — you do not need to buy a personal saltwater license to fish with us.

  • Is the Super Hawk family-friendly? What about kids?

Yes — we're voted Long Island's #1 family-friendly fishing experience. Children 15 and under get our discounted kids' rate every day, the crew helps first-timers bait, cast and reel in, and there's a clean restroom and indoor cabin on board.

  • What fish do you target?

We mainly target summer flounder (fluke) and sea bass in season, with porgy (scup) and other in-season species mixed in. The captain runs to wherever the bite is best on the day.

  • What happens if the weather is bad?

The captain makes the call. If a trip is cancelled for unsafe weather, you'll be rebooked or refunded — no penalty. Light rain or chop usually doesn't cancel a trip; dress in layers and bring foul-weather gear if it looks wet.

  • Where do you sail from and is parking available?

We sail from 1501 Lido Blvd, Point Lookout, NY 11569 — the public dock at the end of Lido Boulevard. Free parking is available right at the dock. Look for the Super Hawk on the south side of the basin.

  • Can I book a private charter, birthday or moonlight cruise?

Yes. The Super Hawk hosts private charters, moonlight party cruises, birthdays, reunions, proms and corporate events. Call (516) 607-3004 to check date availability and pricing.

  • Is there a restroom and food on board?

There are two very clean bathrooms on board — one for women and one for men. There's also an indoor heated/air-conditioned cabin and a small galley that sells snacks, soda and water. You're welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks.

  • Do you clean and bag fish at the dock?

Yes. Our crew will clean your catch for you and put them in a clean bag.

  • Is it customary to tip the crew?

Yes. It is customary to tip the crew 18–20% of the day's cost. This is similar to tipping a waiter or waitress in a restaurant.
